I recently returned to Bangkok, the place I consider my second home.
Just like any country I visit, I do what I can to make the most out of time, and that makes comfort being a key element I consider when I pack for the trip.
I don't however, sacrifice style even if I prioritize comfort. After all, who doesn't feel more confident when they know their outfit looks good? This also makes it easier to have nicer and more memorable photos!
In packing for my trips to Thailand, I always consider the following things:
1. The climate: It's usually really warm so I pack fabrics which are light on the skin. I rarely ever bring anything denim and other clothes in thick fabrics.
2. Places I plan to go: Are temples on the list? Then I make sure to bring something that's both light and long (i.e. pants). No sleeveless tops and nothing above the knee in length are allowed in these places of worship.
3. Beauty & Skincare regimen: What beauty and skincare products do I need? I'll probably leave any exfoliating products and just use them when I get back!
4. How much walking will I be doing: Bangkok is a very walkable city and because of that, the only pairs of shoes I usually bring along on my trips are my Fitflops.
Trips can be even more fun when you do a great job of planning what to bring!
Wherever your adventures may be this summer, I hope you have a great one!!
I'm not a makeup connoiseur, although I do like to keep things tasteful and classy!
One of the easiest ways of doing that is by switching up my lipsticks.
I once read that women end up eating so much lipstick in their lifetime simply because they put it on their mouth.
Because of that, I find it very important to use lipstick which isn't just safe to use on my skin, but one that doesn't have toxic chemicals in case I end up eating some of it!
I decided that the best way of going about this was by going the natural route, and that led me to being a loyal user of Burt's Bees Lip Products.
From lip balm which I use before I sleep at night to lipsticks which I use during the day, Burt's Bees keeps my lips looking hip or classy and totally hydrated.
My favorite shades are lipsticks in Blush Basin (a pinkish nude) and Juniper Water (a deep mauve).
New Year; new life - we often say.
But how can we really start to take better care of ourselves?
Here are the ways I make it a point of giving myself some quality self-love:
1. Take care of your hair
Since I don't usually have the time or patience to work with bad hair days; I go with the route of preventing them from happening.
I proactively help my hair feel lighter and look better by going to a great hairdresser; using a lighter and natural shampoo for my hair type; doing home hot-oil treatments twice a month; and avoiding hot styling tools.
Try: Avalon Organics Shampoo
2. Your skin needs tlc, too
My skin type is oily and that means white heads and break outs. Apart from using a skincare line for my skin type, I also make sure I get a monthly facial to clear my pores. It hurts, but it's worth it!
Try: The Belo Clinic for their facials
3. Comfy shoes bring you to places
I don't know how my younger version did it, but I now have 0 tolerance for uncomfortable shoes. In fact, I choose wedges over stilettos and go for the more expensive yet comfortable for my daily shoes. I walk a lot and I only have one pair of feet, so I'm making sure they get treated the way they deserve!
4. Express yourself the best way using the clothes which fit you best
When clothes are uncomfortable, it shows. In fact, you'd love much better with something older if you're comfortable in them, as opposed to something newer you're fidgety in.
Make sure you choose clothes which bring out the best you; instead of trying to fit into clothes which make you feel like you're trying to be someone else.
My go-to outfit?
A cotton tank top which is around $3 (I have it in multiple colors but my favorites are black and white), and high waist pants or a flattering skirt. I usually accessorize with large earrings which I get for around $6 from stores like Forever 21.
Try: Forever 21 for costume jewelry and basic tees
5. The right gadgets make living even better
I'm known for lugging around medium to large sized bags for a reason: I like having everything I need with me.
Although I carry bigger bags around, I don't want to be bringing unnecessary weight around which can hurt my shoulders and arms.
This is why I prefer great quality all-in-one gadgets like my Smart Phone.
If I can have it all in one place, well, why not?
Try: Samsung Note 8 for phone, camera, Microsoft Office, a note app, and much more.
Hope these lifestyle tips help make 2018 your #bestyearever!
I once heard someone say, "People look at what they like to see" in reference to how we style and present ourselves to the world.
There is something beautiful in our choice of how to present ourselves to the world.
Whether we consider ourselves stylish - or not, the effort or lack of it in terms of how we present ourselves speaks volumes about how we want to be perceived.
I grew up with a grandmother who valued her curls, heels, and red lipstick.
We may not all be professional stylists, but here are a few quick and easy tips to look and feel our best.
1. Low waist pants look best if you have a flat tummy. Otherwise, go for something that goes around the belly.
2. Tucking in your shirt = An instant way of looking more polished
3. Wearing two items in the same color instantly ups your style game.
Style is a fun, easy way to be visually interesting and express ourselves to the world. Hope these any-season tips making upping your style game easier!
I walk - a lot.
I enjoy seeing my phone count my steps and get a thrill from hitting a minimum of 10,000 in a day!
It helps me keep fit and active and I do it by commuting instead of taking the car, going to the gym, and choosing to walk instead of riding some form of transportation.
Because I walk a lot, it's important for me to have comfortable feet, and Fitflops help me out with this.
Fitflops are a staple in my wardrobe, and I've been using them for years!
I use them to get around the city; I use them when I travel; and I even use them when I have work - before I change into work-shoes!
I choose minimalist designs which I can easily match with different outfits (I enjoy playing around with clothes!). Whatever clothes I wear, I take joy pairing it with Fitflops knowing I'm guaranteed with comfort in every step I take!
A great bag is, to a career woman, more than an accessory. It's a necessity.
Sturdy, reliable; and on more than one occasion a convo piece; the career woman has learned the inner structure of this companion: which pocket her keys are in; which side her wallet is on; where she has kept her pen.
The great bag is a partner and constant presence in her life.
My Fino bag has been with me through many precious moments; from the first solo consulting assignment I did overseas, to buying the first piece of furniture I did on my own.
Functional and stylish, I love how they have options for soft and lighter leather bags and accessories. The colors are breathtaking and instantly glam up my outfits.
I have one for my necessities; another for my laptop. I also have, on more than one occasion; purchased accessories to give away as gifts to those who are important to me!
I look forward to using these bags (and my future purchases from this brand) for many more years! Such a joy that it's a Filipino brand, too!
Personal style evolves as one gets older. I may have tried to fight this on more than one occasion, but between my changing body, lifestyle, and preferences; it was only natural for my style choices to follow suit.
In my 20's, I was fond of large, dangly earrings in different colors. It spoke of being fun, confident, and well, being at the peak of my youth.
Now, a woman in my early 30's, I find my style to be simpler, and more refined.
One of the massive changes in my style came in the form of accessories.
Because I'm often on the road and taking the MRT, a jeepney, or an Uber; I want to make sure that my style is never sacrificed for my safety. This is why Swarovski is one of my go-to accessory brands.
Swarovski lends that much-needed sparkle and sophistication, while not being too expensive that I'd be afraid to use it on family trips, while partying with friends, while I facilitate a training session, or while out on a commute.
For the past years, Swarovski has been a huge part of my life; having been with me as I transitioned from my corporate career to my current one as a professional speaker, vlogger, and blogger.
PS: Is there a particular type of accessory you feel naked without? That's my relationship with earrings! Check out the gallery above to discover the moments I've shared with Swarovski studs!
All from Forever 21 from Left to Right: (1) White V-Neck Top & Blush Vest; (2) Long Sweater used as a Dress; (3) Textured Green Dress; (4) Blush Spaghetti-Sleeved Top & Burgundy Jacket; (5) Copper Dress; (6) White Top; (7) Black T-Shirt; (8) Long-Sleeved Blush Dress; (9) Beige Top with Ruffle Detail (10) Peplum Black and White Skirt; (11) Blue Lace Dress; (12) Mustard Dress
I express myself a lot through my style.
I have a bunch of style staples which I consider 'basics' in my wardrobe: a good fitting pair of pants, a flirty dress, the halter silhouette, and beige separates.
I update my wardrobe often, but one thing remains constant: I opt for basics with some in-season updates.
For basics with a twist, Forever21 is a shop I frequent.
I appreciate that they offer a wide variety of options, and that their clothes come in my size (it's usually XS-S)!
Forever21 has been a big part of my journey both as a corporate professional to my work today - a blogger, a vlogger, and a professional speaker.
Check out the gallery above to see how this brand has been part of my journey!
It certainly looks like the year has gone way to fast and suddenly we find ourselves scuttling around and not the least bit slowing down as we enter October.
Style Updates are one of my favorite write-ups because it gives me a chance to help you refine and reinvent your wardrobe; and hopefully give you ideas of what might work especially on days when you don't want to give much thought into dressing up!
Here's a rundown on how to look more stylish now, whether you want to do major or minor tweaks to keep your look interesting and fresh!
I'm not big into wearing red clothes, but I do wear red lipstick and love the Dior Rouge Nail Polish.
Red is making a HUGE comeback this season, so it's wise to incorporate pieces into your wardrobe.
If like me, you find yourself not too excited about wearing pieces in this color, consider using accessories or makeup in various shades (the red hot kind is especially in now)!
Go Black, White, and Textured
Textured fabrics are doing a major comeback, especially in houndstooth plaid. It's timeless, easy to wear, and looks very pretty.
It's a happy season for warm-toned folk like myself, as camel still is a big color.
This beautiful brown shade is prettily matched with beiges, warm white, and blush pinks.
Affiliated with royalty in some countries, a rich blue in medium to darker tones is getting attention in the fashion front.
Update your style with tops and accessories which can easily be incorporated into next season's looks!
It's the season to be jolly in pinks, especially if it's millennial pink. The light shade is Insta-worthy, and a popular choice on flatlays.
Yes, you can totally wear it too.

The Philippines only has two seasons - wet and dry; and yet it doesn't matter that we don't have Winter and Spring. Four-season fashion is celebrated by what is made available in stores and what is seen on the pages of our magazines!
Here's an overview of my favorite articles in some of the most popular Philippine fashion magazines this September!
Earliest Available: Metro and Mega. One's got to appreciate Metro's consistency in being available at the beginning of the month. It's fantastic that Mega was able to make the magazine available sooner. It was quite a vision seeing two red hot covers sit side-by-side at the start of September!
Fave Cover: Metro. Cover star Erich Gonzales' styling was divine. In fact, I found it so hard choosing between the two covers to buy since they were both gorgeous in completely different ways!
1. 'The Art of War: The Upside of Competition' on p. 62
I strongly believe each and every one of us has a competitive streak, and it just varies in terms of the degree of competitiveness! This article gives practical advice on what is healthy competition (i.e. going back to your intentions and making it about reaching your personal best). Sound advice which is definitely worth the read!
2. 'What you can Learn from your Male Coworkers' on p. 84
For a while now, I've been observing the differences in male and female characteristics and the workplace and also studying what characteristics help someone get ahead. This write-up is all about that - and more. It talks about what characteristics connected with femininity you should embrace, and what you can pick up from men in the work environment.
3. 'Are you $oul mates' on p. 86
Work and financial articles are two things I look forward to reading every month, and this money-related feature is no exception. Money can be a touchy subject in relationships, and this write-up sheds light on what you really need to look at and consider about the role finance plays when a significant other enters the picture which is your life.
Price: PhP125 (about $2.5). Came with the Cosmomen insert.
1. 'Best Buys' on p. 40
Want to update your wardrobe with minor tweaking? Then this is the article for you! Not only do you find out what the latest trends are, you're also given suggestions of where you can buy hot pieces to keep your style on point!

Beautiful faces and image of style stars from the local entertainment circuit are caught in images which are sure to fire up fashion inspiration for all readers of this magazine!
Price: PhP250 (around $5). Came with Mega Man insert.
1. The Tony Girl Gang' on p. 30
I love it when fashion magazines break down what it means to look trendy now. It makes an article relatable and helps you build your wardrobe and update your style. This does the job well!
2. 'Fall/Winter 2017 Trend Report' on p. 52
An absolute feast for the senses! Stunning photos transport readers to a front row seat in the latest fashion shows to embark an adventure of discovery and look runway ready!
3. 'Single Girl in New York City' on p. 64
Possibly one of my favorite cover stories in huge part because of the stunning styling and photos. Erich Gonzales, along with the Metro team, definitely hit the ball out of the park with this feature!
Price: PhP150 (around $3).
1. 'Fashion is Change' on Chapter 2
Preview's take on what's in now from head to toe is presented in easy-to-digest, bite-size pieces!
2. 'Fashion is Power' on Chapter 4
Across, the board, this has got to be one of my favorite magazine features. The magazine dissects how some of the most successful figures in the international fashion landscape dress, and give suggestions how to cop their looks. Truly a dress-for-success article!
Price: PhP150 (about $3)
Which feature is your favorite and why? Tell me in the comments below!
So much in life is about perspectives. Take, for example, how the past 8 months of the year can be seen as 242 days.
Or how the many gloomy days of the past months can be seen as an opportunity to cleanse the air.
Fashion is, also, a lot about perspectives.
The past month has been my busiest one so far this year, and I found myself looking not particularly for my hippest outfits, but for my tried and tested ones.
So whether it was a question of silhouette or color, I kept reverting to neutrals, and kept sticking with my 'signature' tucked-in silhouette and easy-to-wear dresses.
That's the great thing about having a go-to look: it can make decisions easier.
The other perspective though, is that it can make us lazier!
However you see it, here's a look back at what went down in my style choices in August, as we boldly enter into September!
Which one is your favorite? Share in the comments below!
Personal style is revealing of many things; a manifestation of self-expression, cultural experiences, beliefs, and utility.
This month's style icon is a woman of the world, traipsing around the globe in no less than fabulous pieces which always flatter her long & lean figure!
This August, we look to broadcaster Marie Lozano for inspo.
If her body type is different from yours (I myself am petite), there is still much to glean from how she styles everything: from dresses to bikinis; from work to the beach!
Here's a closer look at some of my favorite outfits of hers, from her personal gallery a.k.a. her Instagram feed:
What do you think of Marie's style sense? Share in the comments below!
Oh, August. For some reason, it always felt like an in-between month to me: So close to the end of the year, yet not quite; and a month which has a mix of both sunny and rainy days that the weather sometimes can't seem to make up its mind!
It was a great month as far as content from some of our fave glossies were concerned. From travel to beauty issues, and the lowdown of useful products and how to wear the latest trends, August is a month that won't pass by unnoticed - at least as far as style is concerned!
Earliest Available: As with the previous month, Metro magazine is still the earliest available. I love how punctual the people behind it are; feeding my need for a fashion fix on the first of the month, right on the dot.
Fave Cover: Mega. The editorial team's efforts in putting together their 'Women to Watch' on the cover completely paid off: The gorgeous women, decked out in soft, romantic makeup and Mark Bumgarner gowns were a sight to behold!
1. 'Broke no more' on p. 103
It may have been their annual beauty issue, but one of my fave articles in this issue was about fattening one's bank account. This article gives us different options we can choose from to help us manage our money and stay on top of expenses!
2. 'Bean around the world' on p. 112
I may be a tea drinker, but that doesn't mean I can't be fascinated with learning more about coffee! This write-up takes us on a trip around the world (how different cultures usually take their coffee), talks us through coffee jargon; and shows us coffee maker options including where to buy them, how they're used, and how much each cup ends up costing!
1. 'Wonder years' on p. 108
WE'VE GOT TO TALK ABOUT THAT SPREAD. Equal parts soft and romantic, yet also strong and innocent at the same time. It's an absolute delight for the senses.
2. 'Best buys' on p. 20
Fashion inspo, anyone? Get your fashion fix by getting suggestions on how to achieve looks which are hot right now!
3. 'Get ready to wear' on p. 24
Mega shows how to do distressed dressing whether you're in your 20's, 30's, or 40's.
4. 'Heatlist' on p. 48
Your guide to the latest movies this month - both brand new ones coming out in theaters and not-so-new movies which are brand new on cable TV!
1. 'Runway to real' p. 20
You've probably guessed by now that I'm sucker for articles which take runway fashion and what's in and gives ideas to its readers about how to incorporate that style into their wardrobes. This article delighted me by being one of those!
1. 'A Preview girl's guide to Manila; insert
Now this is fascinating: My favorite in this month's ish wasn't an article in the magazine but an insert! Filled with tips on some of the best restaurants around town, to some of the best shops, things to do, and other places to go, this feature is a gem to have and to hold on to!

Dark and Bold: With many rainy days and lots of traffic, I chose to go with the route of deeper hues in my clothing choices the past week.
Here are some of those moments! Hoping it inspires on days you have trouble putting pieces together!
I remember how fashion made me look forward to coming to the office even on days I didn't feel like it.
How did you use style in the past week? Share in the comments below!
I love looking at OOTDs! They give me ideas on how to combine different things from my closet and give me a renewed sense of appreciation for things I already have.
Although I often work from home - and in my pajamas; there are times when you'll find me running around Metro Manila, and trying to get things done.
Here's a look back at the style choices I've made over the past week. The funny things is, none of these pieces are brand new! :)
I don't wear pants when it rains. When the hem gets wet, I feel cold. Instead, I use warmer dresses which fall above the knee. It is, after all, easier to wipe a muddy leg, than it is easier to dry cold, muddy pants!
My training client asked me to go barefoot - literally!
It caught me by surprise at first, but it ended up being the most comfortable I'd ever been at a session!
With my barefoot self was a classic black dress in the perfect length and with the perfect fit - neither too tight nor too loose!
I only like to wear a bright hue - which this week was a perfect thing to do to chase away the gloomy days brought about by a storm.
When the rain had softened to a drizzle I ran out and had a photo taken - to capture this moment of semi-twirling in the rain!

Do you have a girl crush?
I'll tell you who's mine.
About two years ago, I started paying attention to the style and creativity of a lady who was slowly yet steadily entering into the public eye through social media.
From outfit to interior choices, her style radar was always on point.
The most amazing thing is, she is now helping shape the landscape of Philippine lifestyle, through the work she has done for the eyewear and restaurant businesses she runs with her fellow stylish associates.
My chosen style icon this month is It Girl Martine Cajucom! Keep scrolling to see her Insta-fabulous photos!
Thanks for being a style inspo, Martine!

Have you heard of the phrase 'Personal Branding'? I love how Marketing practitioner Laura Lake defines it: "The process of developing a “mark” that is created around your personal name or your career. You use this “mark” to express and communicate your skills, personality and values. The end goal is that the personal brand that you develop will build your reputation and help you to grow your network in a way that interests others. They will then seek you out for your knowledge and expertise.” (Find out more on https://www.thebalance.com/why-is-branding-important-when-it-comes-to-your-marketing-2294845)
Physical Appearance is part of your brand. There are many of these 'lists' which you can find in different places, but here are the things I find most important to have in everyone woman's closet:
1. Plain T-shirts. They don't even have to be white - feel free to choose a color and neckline you like. They're simply the most flexible things you can dress up or down.
2. Black Jacket. Because when you do need to dress up, this is one thing that never goes out of style. Get one in a style you like, and go for one that isn't too bulky. You can, after all, just layer up on your inner wear if it gets too cold.
3. Dark Jeans. Because dark jeans are easier to dress up or down than light ones. They're also more flattering most of the time.
4. Black Pants. My favorite ones come in the high waist cut to give the illusion of longer legs. You can use them at work, on a night out, and even on a casual Sunday when paired with a casual top.
5. LBD. You guessed it right. No list is complete without a little black dress.
6. Stud Earrings. Absolutely perfect with many things and incredibly flexible. My personal favorite are Swarovski studs. Decently priced, they give you the right amount of sparkle, but won't get stolen because thieves know they're not diamonds. :)
7. Classic Watch. It can take you from day to night, and you'll look sophisticated, always.
8. Pearl Necklace. Because sometimes, you need to look fancier.
9. Heels. No, they don't have to be the classic black pump. They're a pair in your choice of design, for whatever suits your lifestyle. My color recommendation is nude - it gives the illusion of longer, and sexier legs.
10. Walking Shoes. It can be a pair of sandals, but it has to be a pair that can fit into a nice handbag. Bottomline, it has to be handy and comfortable. I'm a Fitflops fan.
Did you enjoy this list? Would you want my top ten list for men?
If you do, please leave it in the comments section and I'll email it to you!

I hate driving in Manila. Because of this, my main option is to commute, and anyone who's tried it out in this city will tell you it's not for the faint at heart.
Since I do it so often though - from taking trains, to jeepneys; buses to trikes, or the convenient Uber or Grab car - I've found work-arounds to one of the main problems of commuting: looking haggard.
In this write-up, I share with you some of my secrets to looking fresh despite the heat, crowds, and pollution!
1. Wear light makeup
The last thing you need is makeup that cakes because of all the sweating you might experience while commuting.
If I need something more than usual, I go with a darker lippie or wear eyeshadow - instantly ups the glam factor but more wearable than heavy coverage foundations!
2. Master the art of layering
If you live in a tropical climate like I do, chances are, the weather is either warm or humid for most of the year.
This is a hassle when you commute and makes you want to run into an airconditioned building or vehicle; which isn't always available.
Try layering to address this problem. Hot weather? No problem. Wear a cotton tee or sleeveless shirt which you can put a scarf or jacket on when you get to the office!
Cotton is your best friend! Also, white and beige keep things cool while keeping things comfy!
3. Wear comfy shoes
This is probably THE most important tip on this list.
No matter how awesome your outfit or amazing your makeup is, if your shoes are uncomfortable, it shows.
To keep comfy, I always wear Fitflips or low-heeled sandals while I commute. No matter how far I have to walk (hello, 10,000 steps!), I know I won't get blisters and walking won't feel like a chore.
(PS: Just make your flats go with your outfit!)
4. Use a shoulder bag
It's tough to stay stylish when you're clutching a heavy handbag while struggling to climb up a jeepney - trust me, I've tried.
I employ a simple technique here: I use shoulder bags as much as possible when I commute. Then, I can focus on keeping my balance while my stuff securely hangs from my shoulder.
5. Bring Tissue
There's only so much powdering one can do to cover sweat and oil from the heat one experiences while commuting.
A simple yet highly effective thing I do is to (a) alternate powdering with blotting using facial tissue; and (b) always blot before I powder to take away excess oils and sweat.
This always keeps me looking fresh despite having oily skin!

What are style and fashion without inspirations? B-O-R-I-N-G!
I constantly look at Instagram, Facebook, and glossies for inspo, and I've got to say, the one whose fun style made me smile most this June is the quintessential It girl, Anne Curtis.
Her smile is warm and inviting, and her style makes it seem so easy to look as chic as she does, even it isn't. Lol
Anne's fashion sense doesn't just make heads turn, it also makes hearts flutter - I can tell you mine sure does, since it communicates fun - which is probably a reflection of her inner character!
Here are some of my favorite May & June fashion moments from Anne's Instagram account (www.instagram.com/annecurtissmith)
